You knew this was coming…

Joystiq reported here yesterday that some “thoughtful and concerned citizen” decided to write a letter to the editor at The Washington Post about the Fallout 3 metro ads first mentioned here at Digital Metropolis a couple of weeks ago.
Here is an excerpt from a WaPo reader:
“We do not need a daily reminder of what our worst fears look like. Since any First Amendment objection would be irrelevant (the ads do not present a true viewpoint or political message and would therefore not be protected), there is no reason for these ads to be part of our daily panorama.”
Yes, let’s get rid of something that actually got people’s attention, and instead, continue to look at these artful and thought provoking ads instead:

How do you feel about trial lawyers? What about fat bellies? If I were you, I’d be more offended by these ads, since they’re a little more grounded in reality than a game set over 200 years in the future and based on a 1950s nuclear past that didn’t happen.
As a fellow DC resident who also rides the Metro every day, I feel it should be noted that we have more police officers per block in DC than anywhere else in the world, along with, you know, some Marines and stuff. Personally, I’d rather be here than any other capital (or capitol, too) in the world; we’ve been fortunate not to deal with a lot of horrors that other capital cities have, and I think it has everything to do with the capable people who protect the district for a living.
THAT is what you should be reminded of, not of your fear from an ad. What a joke.
